Contribute
BIKESydney works towards a day when cycling is an “easy, everyday, unremarkable transport” choice. To get there, we rely on people’s goodwill and chipping in some spare time. We’ll listen to hear how your contribution can be shaped around your interests, passions, skills and timings. BIKESydney is a platform, not a technique. We’re here to guide and facilitate. Just don’t hurt any squirrels.
First up, subscribe to our free eNews (we don’t spam or sell anything) and tick “yes” to receiving volunteering call-outs and state your interests, or just drop us a line.
You can check out the sortable projects/skills matrix below for specifics, but here’s an overview of the ways in which you can get involved:
- “On the Day” – volunteering as needed at events or outreach efforts (stalls);
- Bike Valet Parking – Assisting to park bikes …and charming the public :-). It’s simple and fun and you make great friends. It’s really a social event. Most of our volunteers keep coming back;
- Graphic Design, Web Development, Photography and Video Skills – We need these all the time. Be available for one-off requests or as the “Go-to” person for posters, social media postings, website and eNews images, re-designing our logo …or just something beautiful that celebrates bikes or riding. Our “voice” and engagement is improved when we use local images. Or pitch your own ideas;
- Software and App Development – Give us YOUR ideas. Here are a few ideas to get you started;
- Help shape our Submissions – Submissions influence city planning but are also an opportunity to capture research, develop our policies and encourage people into BIKESydney. With more contributors, we could win more change and encourage more riders to raise their voice;
- Or, why not take up a role with BIKESydney? – Like Communications or Social Media Officer, Volunteer Coordinator or any other capacity you’d like to develop.
The table below allows you to scan opportunities according to Roles and Projects (left hand column) or your Areas of Interest/Expertise (click on the ‘sort’ arrows in the top row). (Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the table to make the right hand columns visible.)
